Last year, vivo, OPPO and Xiaomi launched a wireless file transfer system together that works similarly to Apple’s Airdrop. Now, the companies have decided to launch the system globally, allowing cross-brand file transfer in just a single click.
Known as the “Peer-to-Peer Transmission Alliance”, the wireless file transfer system allows users of the three brands to transfer their files quickly without needing to go through external apps like WhatsApp, Google Drive and so on. It uses Bluetooth and WiFi P2P technology to deliver 20MB/s transfer speed without interrupting the WiFi connection for a smooth experience even when users are using their phones for other tasks.

This feature will be gradually rolled out on new vivo devices from February 2020 onwards. According to vivo, once the WiFi and Bluetooth are turned on, users will only need to turn on the sharing function — found under “menu” — and they’ll be able to share the files to the other party.
Senior Vice President of vivo also announced that there will be more strategic partnerships in the future to benefit their global users and the Alliance has plans to include more brands and expand the ecosystem.
