MIUI isn’t like any conventional Android software skin you see among modern smartphones. While Xiaomi has generally been getting flak for their software being similar to Apple’s iOS, MIUI does definitely have a fan base of its own as well. MIUI 9 is set for a July 26 release alongside the unveiling of the Mi 5X, and you can now sign up to become a beta tester.
Xiaomi has stated in a post on MIUI forums that it is currently looking for beta testers for its upcoming MIUI 9 software. To become a beta tester however, isn’t a simple walk in the park process for applicants. For starters, you’ll need to be running either of these Mi smartphones to be eligible for MIUI 9 beta:
Mi 6, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5s, Mi 5c, Mi 5, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2/2S, Mi MIX, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Mi Note 2, Mi Note/Pro, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Note 4X (MTK), Redmi Note 4X (SD), Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 3 (MTK), Redmi Note 3 (SD), Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note, Redmi Pro, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2/Prime, Redmi 1S, Redmi 1
You’ll also need to have the MIUI Global Forum app which can be downloaded via APK or through the Google Play Store. On the home page of the app, select “Recruitment” and fill in the form accordingly. In order to apply, you have to download the QQ messenger app for communication as well. Once you’re selected as a tester, join the QQ Beta Group on the app.
