Samsung Electronics plans to bring smartphone storage to another level by introducing its one-terabyte embedded Universal Flash Storage (eUFS), and the company revealed that the mass production of the eUFS is already ongoing.
To produce the 1TB eUFS, Samsung stacked 16 layers of 512-gigabit V-NAND flash memory and combined it with a new controller. While the package size remains the same at 11.5mm x 13.0mm, the company claims that the new eUFS has the ability to store 260 10-minute 4K UHD videos, while the previous 64GB eUFS was only able to store 13 similar videos.

In addition to that, the 1TB eUFS comes with an impressive speed when it comes to transferring large data files. It has twice the sequential read speed of a 2.5-inch SATA SSD with up to 1,000mbps, and the company proceeded to increase the random read speed up to 38% (up to 58,000 IOPS) from the 512GB version. Now random writes are 500 times faster at up to 50,000 IOPS, and smartphones will be able to shoot at 960fps in high-continuous shooting mode.
The Galaxy S10+ was recently said to be equipped with 12GB RAM and 1TB storage, and now that Samsung has announced the new eUFS, it is almost guaranteed that the speculations are true. With a smartphone that has 1TB storage, it’s possible to just depend on the phone storage to keep all your photos, videos and even movies without requiring an external hard disk.
