After starting to roll out the stable Android Pie update for the Galaxy M30, Samsung has now begun pushing the same update for the more affordable Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones. Samsung had previously announced that it would begin rolling out the much-awaited Android 9.0 update for Galaxy M-series phones from June 3 onwards.

The Pie update for the Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20 is currently being rolled out only in India via the OTA route. In the coming days, however, we expect Samsung to start seeding the update to users in other countries as well. In terms of size, the update weighs in at around 1GB for the Galaxy M10 and about 1.8GB for the Galaxy M20.

The biggest highlight of the Pie update for the two phones is undoubtedly Samsung’s One UI. All the three Galaxy M-series phones had been launched with Samsung Experience 9.5 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. In addition to the new One UI, the update also brings the Scene optimizer feature for the camera. However, this feature is only available for the Galaxy M20 and M30. On the security front, the update includes the Android security patch dated May 1, 2019.

Some of the other major highlights of the Android Pie update for the two phones include direct reply from the notification panel, new Unicode 11.0 emojis in Samsung keyboard, streamlined performance modes, new storage analysis tool, support for HEIF images, and more.
