The Snapdragon 670 processor was supposed to be unveiled by Qualcomm during MWC 2018, but up until the end of the show, we did not see the announcement. The processor was to come with the new Xiaomi devices with the codenames Comet and Sirius but it looks like Qualcomm has decided to rebrand the 670 processor to the Snapdragon 710 processor.
This information comes from XDA Developers that has managed to get their hands on the firmware files from these two phones. The updated firmware of these two phones shows that they reference the Snapdragon 710 instead of the 670. Another reliable source has also confirmed that Qualcomm is rebranding the processor, which makes the 710 processor the first processor in the 700-series. The processor comes with the same specs as the 670, it is an octa-core processor with the Adreno 615 graphics chip that comes in a frequency range of 430MHz and 700MHz. It comprises of a dual-core Cortex A75 processor and a hexa-core Cortex A55 low-end processor, confirmed by the screenshot of the Xiaomi’s firmware codes.
Other than that, it is reported that the Comet phone will come with an OLED display that supports Always-On feature and comes with Android 8.1 and a 3,100mAh battery. The Sirius also comes with an OLED screen and has a notch. It will also come with Android 8.1 and a slightly bigger 3,120mAh battery.
