What would we do without web browsers – especially Google Chrome, since everyone uses it; and in stark contrast, Opera is on the opposite spectrum of public usage, the few that do laud it for its ample features, speed, attractive UI.

Now, the Norwegian-based company are planning to push their operating system – or at least the brand – to a different audience, specifically the gaming crowd. At the recent E3 games convention, they introduced Opera GX, a gaming-centric browser that lets you tweak how much resources the browser uses at any given time to boost performance.

In what the company calls the “world’s first gaming browser”, Opera GX lets you set RAM and CPU usage limiters with sliders so it uses up less memory and processing power (take note Google). This helps when you’re streaming, having the browser and the game open; or when you just want a few tabs of playthrough guides to help you along your way.

The browser also has a few additional features such as a Twitch subscription count on the quick access tab, notifications when your favourite streaming goes live, customizable browser themes (gaming-centric of course), free VPN, ad blocker and pop-out windows for chat services.

The browser is currently available on early access for Windows machines; visit their website to download the installer.
