A recent report has emerged claiming that Google has chosen LG to collaborate with on its future flagship handset lineup in 2018. Dubbed the Pixel 3, the phone(s) are expected to be launched some time in the second half of 2018. But according to Android Authority, LG has since denied such claims made by Chosun Biz, the source of the said report.

Google previously partnered up with LG when it produced the Nexus 4, followed by the immediate Nexus 5 before reviving its design in the Nexus 5X nearly two years ago. Outside of smartphones, the South Korean manufacturer also made what are Google’s official line of Android Wear smart watches today, known as the LG Watch Sport and the LG Watch Style.

LG has responded to the report by Chosun Biz after the folks at Android Authority reached out to them, and the company has stated that the report was “speculation of the highest degree” and that LG does not “deal in rumors and speculation.”

Earlier rumors also pointed out that Google might invest at least 1 trillion won in LG in order to secure OLED panels from the South Korean manufacturer, possibly due to Samsung’s pre-occupancy with display panels for Galaxy smartphones and Apple iPhones.
