The Garmin fenix 6 Pro supported solar charging technology last year and now Garmin is bringing the same technology to the Garmin Instinct, Garmin fenix 6 and Garmin fenix 6S.

Garmin Instinct Solar

There are currently three models of the Garmin Instinct Solar — the vanilla model, the Tactical Edition and the Camo Edition. All three watches can last 24 Dyson in smartwatch mode and more than 50 days when they’re exposed to solar. They can even have unlimited battery life if they’re in Battery Saver mode, which gives them increased GPS functionality when they’re given enough solar exposure.

Those looking for more tactical-specific features will enjoy the Instinct Solar Tactical Edition which comes with night-vision goggle compatibility and Stealth mode. All these variants also have Pulse OX and Body Battery features to monitor user’s wellbeing.

Garmin fenix 6 and 6S Pro Solar

The Garmin fenix 6 and 6S Pro Solar also supports solar charging. Both come with solar charging lens and customisable Power Manager mode for longer-lasting battery life. Similar to the older models, both the fenix 6 and 6S Pro Solar have Advanced Sleep Monitoring, Pulse Ox advanced training metrics and more.

While the Garmin fenix 6S Pro Solar can last up to 9 days without solar charging, the Garmin fenix 6 Pro Solar can last up to 14 days. When added with solar charging, both watches can last about one and half day to two days

Price and availability

The Garmin Instinct Solar is priced at RM1,999 while the Tactical and Camo editions are priced at RM2,199. On the other hand, the Garmin fenix 6S and 6 Pro Solar are priced at RM4,199. These watches can be purchased at Garmin brand stores including Mid Valley Megamall, 1 Utama Shopping Centre and Queensbay Mall.
