COMPUTEX 2016: AOC debuts AGON gaming brand

Taiwan-based monitor manufacturer AOC is officially stepping into the gaming scene as the company officially reveals its new gaming brand. AGON.

According to AOC, the name AGON represents the company’s commitment to the PC gaming segment and the spirit of competitive gaming. AGON is an ancient Greek word which refers to “a struggle or contest”. The name is also intended to be an acrostic that represents AOC’s vision for AGON. Said acrostic is:

  • AOC to lead the way in gaming monitor development
  • Gaming enhanced by the latest technology
  • Outstanding performance for a competitive edge
  • New standard of gaming for users to enjoy

In terms of hardware, AGON displayss will be available in QHD or 4K resolution. The screen will feature AOC Flicker Free and Low Blue Light technology for added eye protection.  It will also be packed with the latest in high-performance gaming technology. Features such as Adaptive-Sync, G-Sync and 144Hz refresh will be present on the monitors itself. Finally, unique gaming optimization features such as AOC Game mode will allow players to conveniently shift through game modes (e.g. FPS, RTS etc.) via an AOC-developed remote control.

AGON will be launching its first five monitors under the brand soon. These monitors are the AG271QX, AG271QG, AG322FCX, G2460PF, and G2460VQ6. All these monitors are expected to be available in the Asia Pacific region soon through AOC partners.
