The Nokia 2360 Flip is aimed at people who want a phone that behaves like a phone, but its most useful feature may be the control it gives a trusted family member. HMD’s new clamshell can be configured remotely through text messages, provides a dedicated SOS button and carries large physical controls intended to be easier to use than a touchscreen.
The phone is listed for RM207.90 on the Nokia Mobile Flagship Store.
Family Assist works without mobile data
Family Assist lets an authorised contact change selected settings by sending commands over SMS. According to HMD’s product information, a family member can manage contacts, reminders, volume and SOS settings from another phone. The Nokia 2360 Flip itself does not need a data connection for those controls.

The SOS key can call and message up to five assigned contacts. There is also a School Mode that can restrict apps and limit communication to approved contacts, giving parents a simpler alternative to handing a young child a full smartphone. These are manufacturer-described safeguards rather than a substitute for emergency services or attentive supervision.
A deliberately basic specification
The phone has a 2.8-inch QVGA main display and a 1.77-inch QQVGA outer screen. It runs the S30+ platform with 4MB of RAM and 4MB of built-in storage, while a microSD card of up to 32GB can be added. Its 1,450mAh removable battery is rated by HMD for up to 27.5 hours of talk time or 15 days of standby, although real endurance will depend on signal strength and usage.

Other practical touches include a torch, FM radio, Bluetooth, a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C charging and IP54-rated protection against limited dust ingress and splashes. There is no modern app ecosystem, high-resolution camera or fast mobile broadband here; simplicity is the point.
Check the 2G network before buying
The most important caveat for Malaysian buyers is connectivity. The Nokia 2360 Flip supports GSM 900/1800 networks only, so it is a 2G device rather than a 4G feature phone.

That means prospective buyers should verify 2G coverage and SIM compatibility with their chosen Malaysian operator before ordering, especially if the phone is intended for an older relative or emergency contact. The remote controls and physical SOS key are sensible ideas, but they are only useful when the handset can reliably connect where it will be used.
