Synology has officially announced the availability of its new PAS7700 enterprise storage solution in Malaysia, introducing an active-active all-flash NVMe storage platform designed for organisations handling mission-critical workloads. The system targets industries where storage performance directly impacts productivity and uptime, including semiconductor design, healthcare, engineering, manufacturing and game development.

As businesses increasingly rely on AI workloads, analytics, virtualisation and large-scale data processing, Synology believes storage infrastructure has become more than just an IT component. According to Jason Sin, Country Manager of Synology Malaysia, enterprise storage now plays a key role in supporting operational continuity, digital growth and long-term scalability.

The Synology PAS7700 is built to address these requirements through high-performance storage combined with continuous service availability. The platform features dual controllers operating in an active-active architecture, allowing both controllers to run simultaneously instead of relying on a traditional active-standby setup. This means if one controller or network component fails, services can continue running with minimal interruption, reducing the risk of costly downtime.

Designed specifically for demanding environments, the PAS7700 comes equipped with 48 NVMe SSD bays housed within a 4U chassis and can scale up to 1.65PB of raw storage capacity through seven expansion units. The system supports both file and block storage while offering compatibility with multiple enterprise protocols including NVMe-oF, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, SMB and NFS.

Performance is one of the platformโ€™s biggest selling points. Synology says the PAS7700 can deliver up to 2 million IOPS with latency below one millisecond and sequential throughput reaching 30GB/s. The system also supports up to 2,048GB of memory and 100GbE networking, enabling organisations to manage heavy virtualisation workloads, databases and AI applications more efficiently.

Beyond raw performance, Synology is placing considerable emphasis on reliability and business continuity. The PAS7700 incorporates several protection mechanisms including triple-parity RAID, mirrored write cache protection, automatic failover capabilities and IP failover support. The system also features Continuous Availability Manager, allowing IT administrators to monitor component health and identify potential issues before they affect operations.

Data protection remains another major focus, especially as Malaysian organisations continue facing growing cybersecurity risks. Citing findings from PIKOMโ€™s Beyond Compliance: The State of Cyber Resilience in Malaysia 2026 report, Synology highlighted that the average cost of a data breach in Malaysia rose to RM3.2 million in 2025, with some organisations experiencing losses exceeding RM5 million from a single major incident.

To strengthen enterprise resilience, the PAS7700 supports Self-Encrypting Drives (SEDs) for hardware-level data protection alongside immutable snapshots and WORM folders, helping prevent unauthorised modifications or deletion of stored data. The platform also supports Snapshot Replication and Hyper Backup, enabling organisations to establish layered backup and disaster recovery strategies between production and secondary environments.

Synology is additionally addressing storage efficiency and long-term operational costs through both inline and offline deduplication technologies, designed to reduce redundant data while extending SSD lifespan. The company says these capabilities can significantly improve storage efficiency in large-scale deployments.

Future updates will introduce Synology Tiering support, automatically moving less frequently accessed files to higher-capacity storage systems while reserving high-speed NVMe resources for active workloads. This approach is intended to improve overall performance while reducing unnecessary infrastructure costs.

The PAS7700 operates on DSM Enterprise, Synologyโ€™s enterprise-focused operating system built for high-performance environments while maintaining simplified management and deployment processes.

Synology NAS Group Executive Vice President Bie-I Chu said the PAS7700 reflects over 25 years of the companyโ€™s experience in storage technologies and close collaboration with enterprise customers. According to Chu, extensive proof-of-concept deployments over the past year helped validate the platformโ€™s reliability, performance and ability to lower overall total cost of ownership for organisations.

The Synology PAS7700 is now available globally, including Malaysia, through Synologyโ€™s authorised partners and distributors. More information regarding specifications and deployment options can be found via Synologyโ€™s official website.
