HUAWEI has officially launched the new MatePad Air in Malaysia, introducing an ultra-thin tablet that combines a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display with PC-level productivity features, AI-powered tools and support for the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro.
Priced at RM3,999, the HUAWEI MatePad Air is positioned as a lightweight alternative for users who want a tablet that can handle productivity, note-taking and creative work without carrying a conventional laptop. It measures just 5.3mm thin and weighs 509g, and is available in Airy Blue, White and Sakura Pink.
A 12-inch OLED PaperMatte Display in a 5.3mm Body

Despite its slim profile, the MatePad Air features a large 12-inch 2.8K OLED PaperMatte display with a 92% screen-to-body ratio and slim 4.69mm bezels. HUAWEI has also opted for a notch-free FullView design to maximise the usable display area.
The OLED panel can reach up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness, while HUAWEI’s PaperMatte treatment is designed to reduce glare and reflections. This gives the screen a more paper-like appearance that should be particularly useful when reading documents, taking notes or drawing with the M-Pencil Pro.
Under the hood, the MatePad Air is powered by HUAWEI’s Kirin T93C octa-core processor and supports up to 8GB of virtual memory for multitasking. A sizeable 10,100mAh battery handles power duties, accompanied by 66W HUAWEI SuperCharge for faster recharging.
WPS AI Turns the MatePad Air Into a Productivity Machine
HUAWEI is putting a strong emphasis on AI productivity this time around. The MatePad Air comes with PC-level WPS Office enhanced with WPS AI, bringing several generative AI tools directly into the tablet’s productivity workflow.
WPS AI can generate presentation slides and document drafts, refine existing writing, summarise lengthy PDFs and analyse spreadsheets. The idea is to reduce the amount of manual work required when preparing documents and presentations while maintaining the familiar PC-like WPS Office experience.
HUAWEI Notes also receives several AI-powered features. AI Speech-to-Text can record and transcribe lectures, meetings and discussions, while AI Handwriting Enhancement can clean up handwritten notes to make them easier to read later.
Users can annotate PDFs directly within their notes, while AI Tutor can provide step-by-step explanations for subjects including chemistry, biology, physics and economics, making the MatePad Air particularly relevant for university students.
HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro Adds Gesture Controls

The MatePad Air also supports the HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro, which offers 16,384 levels of pressure sensitivity for more precise handwriting and drawing.
Beyond conventional stylus input, the M-Pencil Pro supports pinch, press and rotate gestures for interacting with content. Swipe to Turn Pages makes it possible to navigate documents and presentations using the stylus, while an Air Mouse function allows it to double as a remote presentation controller.
Paired with the HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard and Wireless Mouse, the setup gives users a more traditional PC-style working environment while retaining the portability and touchscreen advantages of a tablet.
HUAWEI MatePad Air Malaysia Price and Availability

The HUAWEI MatePad Air is priced at RM3,999 in Malaysia and is now available through HUAWEI Experience Stores and the company’s official online channels.
For its Malaysian launch, HUAWEI is offering benefits worth up to RM4,503. The package includes a RM500 rebate, HUAWEI Smart Magnetic Keyboard, HUAWEI M-Pencil Pro and HUAWEI Wireless Mouse, alongside AI-powered WPS Office with a one-year WPS AI subscription, AI-powered HUAWEI Notes and HUAWEI Premium Service.
At RM3,999, the MatePad Air isn’t positioned as an inexpensive entertainment tablet. Instead, HUAWEI is clearly targeting users who would otherwise carry both a tablet and laptop, combining a slim 509g design and OLED PaperMatte display with keyboard and mouse support, M-Pencil Pro input and an expanding collection of AI productivity tools.
