The Huawei P40 series is set to be introduced this March 26 in Paris, and we’ve heard quite a bit about the device already so far – like a 6.7-inch display, a Kirin 990 5G chipset, 10x optical zoom, LPDDR5 memory and UFS3.0 storage and more.

What makes the Huawei P-series however, are their photography capabilities, which require impressive set of cameras. According to leaks, the P40 will have up to five lenses, two of which are going to be massive in terms of resolution output.

The first one is a 52MP lens that is 1/1.28” large, and employs pixel binning to produce 13MP shots. It’s also capable of two rounds of pixel binning, binning, bringing down the output to 3.25MP, which could be used for night mode, since the pixels are effectively very big at this point.

The next large sensor on the phone is a 40MP one and has a size of 1/1.5 – this is a Sony IMX650 module and is attached to a ultra-wide lens.

From the report by GSM Arena, the phone is not only capable of 10x optical zoom with a periscope lens, the phone also uses a regular telephoto lens with up to 3x magnification. There’s also going to have a ToF 3D sensor and colour temperature sensor which should work with the AI software to enhance images.

It’s safe to say that the Huawei P40 series is going to a photography beast, and could potentially give the Samsung Galaxy S20 series a run for its money.
