Back in May, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg has made an announcement that the company will build a privacy tool called “clear history” to allow users to see what apps and websites that they have interacted on the platform and clear that information from their account.

However, seven months after the announcement was made, there’s still no information or release of the new feature. According to David Baser, Facebook’s director of product management and leader of its privacy and data use team, has said “We want to build something that’s truly helpful for everyone on Facebook. We’d rather take the time to get it right than rushing something out.”

“Facebook intends to start testing the tool in Spring 2019, but with nearly 2.3 billion users on the social network, the tech firm has run into challenges while building the privacy feature. To do this instantaneously for people so they can control it, has meant we’ve needed to build a new way for our systems to process information”, he added.

The new feature is carried out due to the pressure given to Facebook to do more to protect user’s privacy after a data privacy scandal came to light in March. The new feature could help Facebook regain trust from their users should it be a success and keep to its promise to protect all users data.
