Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 trims front bezels even further

Near bezel-less front displays on smartphones have been made popular in 2017. With handsets such as the Galaxy S8, LG G6 and the Essential Phone, technology will only be moving forward from those. The Sharp Aquos Crystal was the first ever smartphone to somewhat implement such a feature, but the Mi MIX concept phone by Xiaomi was the beginning of this particular trend, and it looks like the Mi MIX 2 will bring that to the next level.

Philippe Starck, one of the designers for the original Mi MIX, posted up a concept video of the upcoming Mi MIX 2, and the front panel of the device looks like it’s 95% screen. It looks very much inspired by the Galaxy S8, even judging by the video itself, but there seems to be absolutely no bezel above the display and a very trimmed chin below the display. One other thing to note about this concept phone is that it does not have a display cut out at the top middle for the selfie camera like seen on the Essential Phone and possibly the upcoming iPhone, which can be another plus for potential consumers who don’t fancy that unique feature.

As always, this is merely a concept video, but definitely not one that is fan made, so it is possible that we might see the Mi MIX 2 with an attractive front panel as shown. What do you think?
