The Range Rover Velar has finally launched here in Malaysia, it brings along a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the Range Rover family, filling up the gap between the Range Rover Evo and the Range Rover Sport.
The Velar comes with a large range of features that adds convenient and give a good amount of data to the driver. This is thanks to the 12.3-inch Interactive Driver Display that comes with four visual themes and full-screen 3D navigation display. It also comes with Matrix LED Headlights and its the most slender ever to appear on a Land Rover vehicle. The LED Headlights produce a quality of light close to daylight, giving excellent illumination and reducing eye fatigue. Another interesting feature is the Flush Deployable Door Handles. It contributes to the low drag coefficient of only 0.32, making it the most aerodynamic Land Rover produced.
The interior of the car offers a calming sanctuary, with it’s uncluttered, exquisite in detail. The seats have been sculpted to make it easy to enter and exit the vehicle and it is weight-optimised to liberate additional interior space and legroom.
The body is built using aluminium-intensive monocoque using Jaguar Land Rover’s Lightweight Aluminium Architecture. This alloy accounts for more than 81% of the body-in-white, together with a double-wishbone front and Integral Link rear suspension provides the perfect basis for agile handling, superior ride comfort and outstanding refinement.
The AWD system has also been refined, it provides the optimum torque distribution to suit various road conditions. Depending on the condition, it can transition from 100% rear cups to fully locked in only 165 milliseconds, torque delivery to the front axle can take as little as 100 milliseconds, making the AWD system extremely responsive.
The Velar is fitted with the P250 powertrain, the first of the two new petrol engines that develops a peak power of 250PS and a maximum torque of 365Nm which is maintained from 1,200rpm to 4,500rpm. This allows the Velar to achieve a 0-100km/h in just 6.7 seconds.
The car is available in eight exterior colours of Fuji White, Yulong White, Corris Gray, Santorini Black, Kaikoura Stone, Firenze Red, Silicon Sliver, and Carpathian Gray. There is also five interior colours of Ebony/Ebony, Acorn, Vintage Tan/Ebony, Eclipse/Ebony and Light Oyster/Ebony. The Velar is priced at RM529,800 and the Velar R-Dynamic is priced at RM588,800
