While we have already seen major smartphone announcements on MWC 2023, Tecno is also present in the show and has unveiled the Phantom V Fold, which is the brand’s very first foldable phone that rivals the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Honor Magic Vs.
Tecno has opted for a Mediatek Dimensity 9000+ chip to power the Phantom V Fold paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage, which results in a great rather attractive starting price of $1,099 (RM4,915) and maxes out at $1,222 (RM5,465).
Like its Chinese competition, the Phantom V Fold features a ‘virtually crease-free’ foldable screen that measures 7.85-inches with a 2296×2000 resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, while the external display measures 6.42-inches and refreshes at 120Hz as well.
In addition, Tecno hasn’t cheapen out the foldable’s other hardware, as it features a triple camera system that comprises a 50MP main, 50MP telephoto and 13MP ultrawide, while it has a 16MP punch hole camera on the inner display and a 32MP punch hole camera on the outer display.
Like the Honor Magic Vs, the Phantom V Fold has a 5,000mAh battery albeit with a slower 45W fast charging, Tecno claims 40% of battery with just 15 minutes of charging, while the foldable will be fully revived from a dead battery in 55 minutes, there’s however no wireless charging.

The Tecno Phantom V Fold will run Android 13 out of the box with the company’s HiOS 13 skin, which the company claims to have optimized its foldable phone experience for the top 1,000 most downloaded apps globally.
Tecno sure has some brand presence here in Malaysia, but we doubt this would be a device that the company has plans to bring despite its competitive pricing, but nonetheless this would be an interesting device if it ever makes its way here.
