While Synology is famous for its NAS servers, it has other products such as hard disks and SSDs that’s optimized to work with its NAS servers, and it has now expanded its portfolio to surveillance cameras by unveiling two products – the BC500 and TC500.

Both the BC500 and TC500 are IP67 certified cameras that come in different form factors, as the model name suggests, the BC500 is a bullet-form camera while the TC500 is a turret-form camera, they feature advanced AI capabilities and integrate well with Synology’s Surveillance Station video management system.

Both cameras feature a 5-megapixel sensor that records videos up to 2880×1620 resolution at 30 FPS with a 110-degree horizontal viewing angle, it is capable of showing a night vision range of up to 30 meters, while it also has multi-exposure HDR capability, this could be great for environments with challenging lighting conditions.

In terms of its AI capabilities, Synology claims that it is used to provide users with timely and accurate alerts, which intelligently detects people and vehicles, intrusions and an instant search feature to allow users to more reliably identify potential threats, quickly investigate areas of interest and retrieve relevant footage.

No additional licenses are required when you pair the BC500 and TC500 with Synology Surveillance Station, there’s also no subscription for storage as it is entirely dependent on the amount of storage that you have allocated on your Synology NAS server for Surveillance Station.

In terms of security, these cameras boast failover edge storage, and HTTPS and SRTP support to ensure your surveillance footage is fully encrypted from unauthorized access, they are also US NDAA and TAA compliant devices.

The Synology BC500 and TC500 cameras are available in selected regions and come with a 3-year hardware warranty.
