Clamshell phones used to be one of the most popular form factors in the era of feature phones apart from candy bars and sliders. Today, some companies are still trying to tap into the disappearing demand for clamshell phones, but Samsung is rumored to be launching another clamshell smartphone later this year with flagship specs but no Galaxy branding.

A tipster from Twitter has claimed that there will be a Samsung W2018 clamshell smartphone, which was leaked on TENAA not too long ago. The recent TENAA listing indicates that the Samsung W2018 will sport two 4.2-inch AMOLED displays which form a combined Full HD screen.

Twitter tipster “mmddj_china” claims that the Samsung W2018 will be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor underneath the hood, with a possible 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. These specs differ from the ones listed on TENAA – SD821 with 4GB of RAM. Either way, take them with a huge grain of salt.

Other rumors so far include a 12MP rear facing camera, which might be the exact same sensor used for the Galaxy S7 and S8 series. Would you fancy a clamshell smartphone in 2017?
