Yesterday, we reported that Samsung had filed a patent for a reverse notch display, following in the same trail as Xiaomi. Seemingly hot on the Chinese company’s heels again, Samsung looks set to introduce an in-screen camera phone sometime next year – Xiaomi and OPPO both teased their take on the tech a few months ago.

Reliable leaker Ice Universe tweeted shared on Twitter the news while mentioning that the phone in question will not be the Galaxy S11 or the Galaxy Fold 2 – so immediate guesses point towards the Galaxy Note 11 instead, as pointed out by Tech Radar.

But considering Samsung’s track record for testing out new innovations on their Galaxy A-series devices, we can’t discount the idea that the flagship Galaxy models won’t actually come with the feature at all, not yet at least until one of the A-series phones get it.

According to GizChina, Samsung’s version of the in-screen camera sensor would be called the HIAA2 and its mass production is set to begin early 2020. This is exciting stuff, because this could be the solution to notchless displays without the girth of a pop-up camera phone.
