The time has come for Samsung to unveil its latest foldable phones in Malaysia and this round, the Galaxy Z line up welcomes a new wide-screen foldable called the Z Fold8, the flagship book-style foldable has been renamed to the Z Fold8 Ultra, while the Z Flip8 continues to be the default option for those who prefers a clamshell form factor.
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra

Leading the lineup, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra introduces several key upgrades over the Galaxy Z Fold7, it boasts the same 6.5-inch cover display and 8-inch internal display, while retaining an impressive 4.1mm profile and lighter 215g weight, the Fold8 Ultra sadly didn’t bring back support for the S-Pen.
Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy, it comes in 12GB and 16GB RAM configurations with the former paired with 256GB and 512GB of storage, the latter with 1TB of storage.

Camera wise, we are looking at a triple camera setup with an improved 200MP main sensor with OIS, 10MP telephoto that does 3x optical zoom and a new 50MP ultrawide camera, the front cameras of the internal and external display remain at 10MP, the main and ultrawide cameras support up to 8K video recording and comes with the horizontal lock feature for stabilized video shooting, it also supports the APV codec for high-qualty video shoots.

The Fold8 Ultra receives a 5000mAh battery with support for 45W fast wired charging and 25W wireless charging, its battery can be charged to 63% in 30 minutes which is definitely an improvement that will eliminate battery anxiety.
Galaxy Z Fold8

The most exciting of the trio is the Galaxy Z Fold8, which reveals a 16:10 aspect ratio 7.6-inch display when unfolded, the cover display measures 5.5-inch with a 4:3 aspect ratio, both screens boast a 120Hz refresh rate. Despite being a slightly smaller device, the Fold8 is thicker than the Ultra at 4.3mm when unfolded, which is still reasonably slim, but you can defintley still notice the chunk when you hold both phones, it does however weigh lighter at 201g.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor with the exact same storage configurations as the Ultra, the Z Fold8 offers a new foldable experience for the first time on a Galaxy Z device, as the more squarish form factor makes it more palm friendly for consuming content, while the benefit of having a 16:10 aspect ratio on the internal display makes watching widescreen videos better with lesser black bars as compared to the Ultra.

The Fold8 receives a dual camera setup that consists of a 50MP main and a 50MP ultrawide camera, they both support up to 8K video recording, horizontal lock and APV codec like the Ultra, the front cameras on the cover and internal displays are the same 10MP cameras.

As for battery, you are getting 4800mAh on this wide screen foldable with support for 45W wired charging and 25W wireless charging, which I believe should deliver around the same battery endurance as the Ultra despite having a smaller battery capacity.
Galaxy Z Flip8

As the default foldable model in the lineup, the Galaxy Z Flip8 receives the least upgrades as compared to the Fold models, it boasts exactly the same 4.1-inch cover display and 6.9-inch internal display as before, the same 50MP wide and 12MP ultrawide cameras, 4300mAh battery with support for 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.

The Z Flip8 does at least get a new Exynos 2600 processor with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage, which users will find minor performance and power efficiency improvements than before.
