A new tweet by Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth has revealed that the company is working on a smartphone with a 64MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor. The sensor was announced alongside the updated 48MP ISOCELL Bright GM2 sensor last month. Sheth has also shared a sample photo taken with the upcoming phone, with the watermark at the bottom left corner revealing the presence of a “64MP AI Quad Camera”.
The tweet highlights the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 is the largest sensor available for smartphones currently at 1/1.72”. Thanks to the large sensor size, it has a highly impressive 1.6um pixel size. The large pixel size should help the sensor deliver impressive results in low light as well.
Apart from the resolution of the primary rear-facing camera, Sheth hasn’t revealed any other important detail regarding the upcoming camera-centric smartphone yet. Like pretty much all the Realme phones launched so far, the 64MP camera phone from the company will be launched in India before other markets. While no specific timeframe has been confirmed by the executive, he did say that the smartphone will debut sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.
Realme’s most impressive camera phone currently is the Realme X, which was launched in China last month. It features a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 5MP secondary depth sensor with an f/2.4 aperture.
