MG Motor Malaysia has officially announced an exclusive early bird package for its highly anticipated MGS5 EV SUV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, ahead of its formal price launch. Following the earlier reveal of its estimated starting price from RM115,000, this package rewards early supporters who place a booking with a RM500 fee by offering ten times more savings compared to standard rates, alongside a complimentary 7kW Wallbox AC charger for home charging convenience.
The announcement was made at a launch event attended by prominent figures, including Azrul Reza Aziz, CEO of the Malaysia Automotive, Robotics & IoT Institute (MARii), and Ts. Nizmar Mohd Nazar, Deputy CEO of MARii, alongside MG Motor Malaysia’s top management team, including Emory QiFeng, Managing Director, and Lee Wen Hsiang, Chief Operations Officer of SAIC Motor Malaysia.
The MGS5 EV is available in two variants, the COM and the LUX, both delivering strong performance and real-world practicality. The COM variant offers the flexibility of a 49kWh or 62kWh battery, providing up to 340km or 430km of WLTP range respectively, while the LUX variant comes standard with the 62kWh battery and the same impressive 430km range. Both models are powered by a Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) configuration, delivering 170PS and 250Nm of torque, making the MGS5 EV the only vehicle in its segment to offer this setup.
Notably, the LUX variant adds further premium features, such as DC fast charging up to 150kW (allowing a 10–80% charge in just 26 minutes), 18-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, leather-fabric combination seats with perforated MG logos, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a heated leather steering wheel, wireless phone charging, six premium audio speakers, and a 360-degree surround view camera.
Both variants are equipped with LED headlamps featuring ‘Racing Flag’ daytime running lights, MG’s distinctive Arch Taillights, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen with voice command, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and MG’s iSMART connectivity system. Storage is generous, with boot space expandable to 1,441 litres, including the underfloor compartment.
The MGS5 EV also benefits from an ultra-thin Horizontal Battery Layout that maximises interior space while maintaining a low centre of gravity, enhancing both cabin comfort and driving dynamics. An advanced adaptive pressure control system minimises battery cell expansion, boosting both safety and long-term durability.

Visitors to the Malaysia Autoshow can experience the MGS5 EV firsthand with exclusive test drives, making it the only opportunity to drive the vehicle before its formal price reveal. MG’s full lineup—including the MG5, MG4, MG HS, and the iconic all-electric MG Cyberster roadster—will also be on display, alongside attractive promotions such as a RM5,000 rebate on the MG5 and MG HS or flexible MG4 ownership from just RM974 per month.
Additionally, customers who book the MG Cyberster will receive a one-year unlimited JomCharge package, a complimentary 7kW Wallbox charger, and an exclusive limited-edition MG Cyberster diecast model.
As part of the event, MG Motor Malaysia and Bridgestone Malaysia will host public workshops from 9 to 11 May 2025, covering EV tyre technology and essential tyre care, offering visitors useful insights into maintenance and innovation.
The MGS5 EV will be available in five colours: White, Monument Silver, Camden Grey, Dynamic Red, and Elegant Latte. The Malaysia Autoshow will be held at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) from 9 to 15 May 2025, with the MG booth located at Hall A02, open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM.
