Imagine the sound of a Maserati engine in a SUV form factor, it is now becoming a reality as Naza Italia has brought in the highly anticipated Maserati Levante for a special preview today in town, the Levante is Maserati’s first ever SUV being produced, based on the Quattroporte and Ghibli’s architecture, it is further refined for greater versatility. The Levante that is being previewed today is a 3.0 litre turbodiesel V6 engine variant that produces 275hp and 600Nm. The petrol variant of the Levante will be available on launch date, it has a 3.0 litre twin turbo engine that produces 350hp and 500Nm, a more powerful Levante S is also expected to make its way here as well with a 430HP output and 580Nm despite having the same 3.0 litre engine capacity.

The Levante feels like a slightly higher Maserati sedan in general, the SUV’s size can be described as in between a compact and mid-size SUV, which is why you don’t actually feel too cramped when sitting inside the cabin and it can easily fit any passenger with a 6-feet height. The exterior of the car features a Maserati signature look similar to its sedan, things such as the trademark radiator grille, bixenon headlamps with DRL and rear LED tail lights are similar to what you find in Maserati’s other offerings.

Once you move on to the inside, the Levante begins to feel more like a sedan and has a very minimalistic yet luxurious design on its dashboard, the instrument panel an analog one and features an 8.4″ touchscreen multimedia system with Maserati’s Touch Control Plus software, the latter will provide controls to the car’s equipment and features while supporting media playback from Android and iOS devices, there was no mention of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

Safety features of the Levante includes six dual-stage airbags, active headrests, a tyre pressure monitoring system, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Path detection, and Lane Departure and Forward Collision warning systems. Naza Italia has not announced pricing for the Levante just yet, however if you are interested do head on over to Naza Italia’s showroom in Petaling Jaya to check out the Levante as the company is also accepting bookings as well.
