Flexible OLEDs are the future, which explains why LG has announced that they will be investing USD1.75 billion in order to meet the growing demand for flexible OLED displays.

With flexible OLEDs expected to replace regular LCDs for smartphones and other similar tech in the future, LG has decided to go all-in with flexible OLED production. The South Korean company is familiar with this particular display of course, as some of these displays were on the CES showfloor held earlier this year. The investment in flexible OLED production would see LG create a new production line for small and medium flexible OLED screens in South Korea.

This new production line, E6, is scheduled to begin mass production in the second half of 2018. It is said that it would product up to 15,000 inupt sheets per month once it begins operation. With some tech companies already showing off the potential applications of flexible screens, it seems the LG’s faith in the technology is not exactly unfounded.
