Chinese LeEco has announced three smartphones in it’s Le 2 lineup, dumping the 3.5mm headphone jack in a ditch. The Chinese OEM, formerly known as LeTV, brings the revolutionary Le 2, Le 2Pro and Le Max2. All three handsets feature metal bodies, with a resemblance to the design of HTC’s phones.

First off, the Le 2 sports a 5.5-inch 1080p display, with a MediaTek Helio X20 processor and 3GB of RAM as horsepower, alongside 32GB of internal storage. It features a 16MP and 8MP camera pair and comes packed with a 3,000mAh battery.

Next up, the Le 2Pro features a bump in the spec sheet. While it has the same display like on the Le 2, the Le 2Pro features a more beastly SoC underneath the hood – a MediaTek Helio X25 chip, being the first smartphone ever to be powered by the processor. Running alongside the processor is 4GB of RAM. It also features 32GB of internal storage, and the same 3,000mAh capacity for battery. The Le 2Pro maintains the same selfie shooter from the Le 2, but receives an upgrade to a 21MP camera with a Sony IMX230 sensor from the 16MP shooter of the Le 2.

Turning up the heat is the Le Max2, which features a 5.7-inch display in QHD resolution. The handset sports the flagship Snapdragon 820 processor alongside either 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB of storage sizes respectively. On the camera side of things, we’re looking at the same camera setup from the Le 2Pro, with OIS being added onto the rear facing camera. The Le Max2 is powered by a slightly larger 3,100mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 and turns out to be the first smartphone to pack SenseID ultrasonic fingerprint sensor by Qualcomm, which has been anticipated for a while this year.

As mentioned earlier, the lack of the 3.5mm headphone jack is made up with USB Type-C ports on all three devices. Coupled with that fact, LeEco has also announced two pairs of headphones with USB Type-C cables and feature Continuous Digital Loseless Audio. One pair of the headphones is in-ear and the other being over-ear.

While the Le 2 series may sound like a Pokemon evolution, they all come at pretty affordable and reasonable price tags. The Le 2 is priced at 1,099 CNY (RM655.55) and the Le 2Pro comes at 1,499 CNY (RM894.15). The more premium Le Max2 is priced at 2,099 CNY (RM1,252.05) for the 4GB model and 2,499 CNY (RM1,490.65). Looks like LeEco has beaten Apple to remove the headphone jack in their devices. What do you think?
