iQOO 12: First Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phone launches in Malaysia

There’s no need to wait till the new year for the next most powerful flagship Android smartphone, as iQOO Malaysia has officially unveiled the iQOO 12 today, it is the first smartphone to be sold with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship chipset and while it is a gaming centric device, it has a significantly upgraded camera system and a more premium design than before.

Paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, the iQOO 12 features a 6.78-inch LTPO display with a 2800×1260 pixel resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, a dedicated Supercomputing Q1 chip is also fitted to further enhance visual quality in games, a dual-cell 5000mAh battery juices the phone and can be fast charged with a 120W charger.

The iQOO 12’s triple camera setup includes a 50MP f/1.6 main, 50MP ultrawide and 64MP periscope camera that offers up to 3x optical zoom, which is the most impressive in the gaming phone segment, although the front camera is the same underwhelming 16MP camera that takes 1080p videos.

With the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the iQOO 12 promises up to 30% of CPU performance and 20% of power efficiency improvements compared to the previous generation, while graphics performance is up to 25% compared to the previous chip, mobile gamers will also be excited to know that the iQOO 12 has a 40% larger vapor cooling chamber than before to ensure consistent gaming performance for extended periods.

With these upgrades, the iQOO 12 surprisingly retails at a reasonable RM3,399, customers can preorder the phone starting today till 11th December to enjoy a RM50 discount off its retail price, and receive free gifts worth up to RM777, including a iQOO TWS Air 2 earbuds, 1-year extended warranty and 1-year screen crack warranty.
