Huawei to officially penetrate US market with flagship handsets

Huawei has already taken third place when it comes to global smartphone sales, and that’s without having their flagship devices on sale in the US. The Chinese manufacturer plans to even up the competition level, which is mostly between giants Apple and Samsung, who are ahead of Huawei. Of course, Huawei has officially sold some mid-range handsets by partnering with American online stores, and it’s not to say that flagship phones aren’t available, they just aren’t officially being sold on American soil.

However, Huawei’s mobile chief Richard Yu has told Wall Street Journal that the company will start releasing its flagship devices to the US later this year. With Huawei phones getting more impressive and competitive, it won’t a surprise to see a rapid growth in sales once the company starts it up in the West. The Huawei Mate 8 may see some action but the device has been out for nearly half a year more. On the other hand, the latest Huawei P9 will most likely be shipping over to the US.

Launched in Huawei’s London event, the Huawei P9 sports an impressive dual-camera setup in collaboration with camera manufacturer Leica and a powerful HiSilicon Kirin 950 SoC. With Huawei in the game, Samsung and Apple’s American counter-parts will face quite the competition.
