4K is slowly getting to be a norm in householdsĀ around the world, with just a handful of companies producing displays that support resolutions more than 4K. However, the new HDMI 2.1 spec sheets indicate that it can support 10K resolution with a full refresh rate of 120Hz.
Introduced in January this year, HDMI was initially thought to support 8K at 120Hz which is more than expected of what a system could produce, but when looking at the specs overview, it indicated that it will support 10K resolutions at 50Hz, 60Hz, 100Hz, and even 120Hz. Currently, at best, the GTX1080 Ti can comfortablyĀ produce a quality of 4K at 60FPS in games with just some tweaks in settings and at the moment, only Dell’s UltraSharp monitor supports 8K resolutions.
Ā It will be awhile before we are seeing displays that can support 10K at 120Hz which is honestly insane resolutions. As of now, 4K will be the standard of media consumption and slowly 1080p will slowly phase out. We would probably expect to see higher resolutions becoming the norm further in the future.
