Google is changing the way we interact with our phones when Android P rolls out. The company is now adding iPhone X-like gestures to its operating system and it looks like it might actually improve the interactivity with the OS.

Demoed at their Google I/O conference, Android P will get rid of the navigation buttons and replace them with just an icon at the bottom of the screen, similar to the icon on the iPhone X. The Verge has provided the exact details on how this new gesture feature will work. Tapping the icon will go to the home screen, long press will activate Assistant, half swipe up will go to the overview screen, full swipe up will bring up the app drawer, sliding to the right will scroll through recent apps, and finally is the back button which will only appear in apps.

We assume that users will still be able to bring back the navigation buttons in the settings but for those of you that prefer gesture controls will love this feature as it not only will make your phone screen cleaner, it is a much better way to traverse the operating system without tapping the screen too many times.
