In yet another story about how Flash has become irrelevant, tech giants Google have announced that an upcoming update to Chrome would begin blocking Flash.
Google Chrome 53, scheduled for release in September, would see it block all known instance of Flash, including those that load “behind the scenes.” Replacing the pretty-much-defunct Flash is HTML5, which is expected to deliver improved security, reduced power consumption and faster page load times when compared to Flash.
Blocking Flash is just the first phase for Google as the company is looking to make HTML5 the default browsing experience in Chrome 55. Expected to arrive in December, Chrome 55 would only enable Flash should you personally ask it to, much like how other web browsers treat Flash in their recent updates.
With Google now abandoning Flash for HTML5, Flash is pretty much an afterthought on most web browsers. Seeing as how Apple, Mozilla and Microsoft has moved on from Flash, it seems that Adobe’s Flash platform is pretty much dead.
