It’ll take at least another four months before the iPhone 12 models are launched, but renders of the new iPhones are officially out. This is what the iPhone 12 series will look like.

Apple plans to introduce four new models later this year. Though unconfirmed, the new iPhones should be named the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Plus, the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The lower-end iPhones will reuse the name format of older iPhones while the higher-end models will stick with the “Pro and Pro Max” titles.

Design

We’ve previously mentioned some features that are confirmed for the newer iPhones. This includes ProMotion 120Hz display, but only for the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max — the lower-end models will still sport a 60Hz refresh rate — and a smaller notch with improved Face ID.

The bigger change in design is its flat edges and the glass is less protruding which has been proven to be more durable. EverythingApplePro also speculated that Apple may include blackout tint lenses, something like the OnePlus Concept One phone with its disappearing cameras.

Various source leaks have also confirmed that Navy Blue will be the new color for the higher-end models to replace the iPhone 11 Pro’s Midnight Green. The frosted design with matte finish will be here to stay with the iPhone 12 lineup, reducing the likelihood of leaving fingerprint marks on phones.

Under the Hood

Of course, we will be getting the A14 Bionic chip with the new devices. They will also get bigger batteries, especially since the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max will be sporting ProMotion displays. EverythingApplePro reported that Apple engineers have increased the battery capacity from the previous leaks that suggested a 4,400mAh battery, so at least we know the new iPhone 12 Pro models will not sacrifice their battery lives for display.

The iPhone 12 Pro series will be sporting four lenses, including the LiDAR Scanner that’s in the new iPad Pro. This lens will be located to the bottom right of the camera setup and will help improve the iPhone’s portrait mode. There’s also a slim chance that Apple will add portrait mode for videos, something Android manufacturers have started to include in their phones.

It was first revealed that the iPhones might get a 64MP sensor, but that’s no longer the case due to autofocus issues. This means that Apple will stick to 12MP lenses this year, but there will be improvements in terms of lowlight photos, white balance, long exposure and major EIS improvements. The telephoto lens will also be upgraded to support 3x optical zoom, up to 30x digital zoom and it’ll even support night mode.

Jon Prosser from FPT also made a video compiling all the exclusive leaks regarding the upcoming iPhones.
