The Xiaomi Redmi phones have been the target of budget consumers and even if its a budget phone, these devices perform quite well in real life use. With the release of the Redmi 4 and 4X in 2017 taking users by storm, a China Telco has leaked the specs and images of the new Redmi 5 phone.

Off the bat, it comes with an 18:9 5.7-inch HD screen which is an increase from the 5-inch screens the previous Redmi phone was carrying. Other than that, it will come with a Snapdragon 625 ‘Lite’ version. The lite is because it is clocked at 1.8GHz rather than the standard clock speed of 2GHz on the 625 processor. Other than that, it comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is expandable via microSD card up to 128GB. On the back, there is a 12MP camera and the front is a 5MP camera. It will come with a headphone jack, microUSB 2.0 port and a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The downside is a massive step down on the battery side where it comes with only 3300mAh battery compared to the previous versions which had a 4100mAh battery. It will ship with Android 7.1 and MIUI 8.5.1.1 which should get an MIUI 9 upgrade later on.
