L’Oréal is continuing to invest in tech as they introduce their latest wearable prototype that detects skin pH levels.
According to L’Oréal, varying skin pH levels can cause inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema and dryness.
The company is determined and wants dermatologists to use this new device’s data to create health plans while also empowering users to learn more about their own skin.
To use the device, users would first need to place the device on their inner arm and leave it there for 5 to 15 minutes. Then, they would need to open the “My Skin Track pH” app on their phone and take a picture of it.
The dots on the device could assess sweat biomarkers like pH, glucose, lactate, chloride, sweat loss, and sweat rate.
The app will process what it sees, along with how much a user is sweating and lastly, it will suggest the recommend products that the user should use.
For now, it is still unsure if the sensors are reusable.
L’Oréal says it’s something that will “be determined as we move My Skin Track pH beyond the prototype phase.”
The My Skin Track pH is planned to launch later this year at selected dermatologist offices, with the goal of shipping direct to consumers. However, L’Oréal did not announce the price of the device yet.
