BlackBerry’s next Android phone has been officially revealed, and it looks strangely similar to an Alcatel phone, more specifically, the Alcatel Idol 4. This is the DTEK50, and it is touted as the “world’s most secure Android phone.”

Before we get into the security part, let’s talk about the specs. The DTEK50, codenamed Neon, is a midrange device. It sports a Snapdragon 617 Octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and a 13MP rear camera with phase detection auto-focus and a dual-tone LED flash. In terms of storage, the DTEK50 comes with 16GB of storage which is expandable via microSD cards for up to 2TB of storage.

As with every other BlackBerry phone, the strength of the DTEK50 is in its security. The DTEK50 comes with a slew of security features such as a hardened kernal, a hardware “Root of Trust,” full disk encryption, a secure bootloader and address space randomization. Tying these features together is the DTEK app which gives you an overview of your phone’s security as well as detailed feedback on apps that are accessing your details.

The BlackBerry DTEK50 is now available for pre-order with an asking price of USD299 (RM1,219).
