Samsung’s firework of woes doesn’t seem to be stopping at anytime as we have reports of yet another explosion of the Galaxy Note 7, this time coming from Australia. Samsung has recently issued a global recall for an estimated 2.5 million units of the Galaxy Note 7 as reports of the device catching fire or exploding have been increasing. The folks at Android Authority has reported that one of their readers happened to be a victim of a Note 7 mishap.
Tham Hua, a Galaxy Note 7 user in Australia has claimed that his unit “exploded” while it was plugged in and charging. The images above show the badly burnt Galaxy Note 7, which looked similar to the aftermath images of other cases alike. Fortunately, Tham did not sustain any major injury, but he did burn his finger in the process. Tham contacted Samsung Australia and he will be loaned a device by the company.
Meanwhile, Oculus has issued a statement on their Gear VR page on their website, warning users not to use the Galaxy Note 7 with the Gear VR until they get a replacement:
“Please note: Samsung has issued a product exchange program for all Note7 devices due to battery issues. Don’t use your Note7 with Gear VR until you get your replacement. Contact Samsung directly with any questions.”
If you happen to be a user of a Galaxy Note 7, we strongly advise you to contact Samsung immediately for arrangements to be made. Meanwhile, be sure that your Note 7 is being charged in a safe place, or on stable surfaces, and not on the bed or a couch where phones are prone to overheat while charging.
