AMD has kept its word in Computex last month, it has officially unveiled the pricing of the highly anticipated powerful Ryzen Threadripper CPU and its “Vega” GPUs over at SIGGRAPH, the event for GPU technologies that is happening at Los Angeles right now. The Ryzen Threadripper is a high performance desktop CPU that rivals Intel’s Core i9 processor, available in 16-core, 12-core and 8-core models, the Ryzen Threadripper is based on the “Zen” architecture while sporting 64 PCIe lanes and up to 32 threads, which makes it a beastly hardware to perform complex computing tasks.
The AMD Radeon RX Vega on the other hand is the most advanced Radeon graphics card ever made, based on the ‘Vega’ architecture, it delivers up to 13.7 TFLOPs of compute power and has 8GB of HBM2 memory, doubling the bandwidth of previous HBM technology and delivering 60% more memory bandwidth over GDDR5. Furthermore, the Vega architecture has features that will help push the performance boundaries in low-level APIs like DirectX 12 and Vulkan, which allows game developers the flexibility in designing beautiful graphics. Â AMD has mentioned previously in Computex that customers can expect various cooling solutions from its AIB partners, while the company itself has also released two special variants of the RX Vega, a liquid cooled and air cooled edition.
As for pricing and availability, AMD is now taking preorders for the Ryzen Threadripper, which the 1950X and 1920X will be made available first on August 10th at the price of $999 Â (RM4,274) and $799 (RM3,418) respectively, while the 8-core 1900X will be made available at 31st August at the price of $549 (RM2,348). In the case of the Radeon RX Vega, prices will start from $399 (RM1,707) depending on the card’s cooling solution.
