Apple has released iOS 27.2 for supported iPhones, adding a more useful memory for Siri AI, action suggestions inside Messages and several smaller upgrades across Photos, Podcasts, Games, Apple TV and FaceTime.
The update arrived on 26 October 2026. Apple lists it for iPhone 11 and later, although the headline Siri AI additions require newer hardware: every iPhone 16 model and later, plus the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Siri AI remembers more of the conversation
Apple says Siri AI can now recall useful context from earlier Siri conversations. That means a follow-up such as asking about a restaurant suggested last week should no longer require the user to reconstruct the original request.
The assistant can also draw from a wider pool of personal information, including photos attached in Messages, Calendar attendees, voicemails, Safari history and Reading List. This is a manufacturer description of the feature rather than an independent measure of its accuracy; KLGadgetGuy has not tested how reliably it retrieves the right detail.

There is a useful privacy control alongside the wider access. A new Excluded Apps setting lets users decide which apps Siri, Search and suggestions may use. Granular text selection also allows part of a Siri response to be copied instead of forcing users to take the entire answer.
Messages gets practical suggestions
Suggestions in Messages looks for actionable details in a conversation and can offer to pass them to another app. Apple’s example is turning a dinner plan into a Calendar invitation; Reminders is another obvious destination.
This kind of feature can save a few taps, but it also makes context important. Users should check the date, time, location and invitees before confirming anything, particularly when a conversation contains changing plans or jokes that an automated system could misunderstand.

Photos, Podcasts and Apple TV also change
Shared Albums in Photos can now edit captions and comments, warn about duplicate additions and remind participants before an album expires. Apple has also added support for Google SynthID watermarking to help identify images generated or modified with supported generative tools in Photos and Image Playground.
The Podcasts Home tab separates New Episodes from Continue Playing, while the Games app adds more context for friend suggestions and recently played titles on player pages. Simple Profiles in the Apple TV app gives different people in a household their own recommendations. FaceTime can now include a third-party sign-language interpreter or live captioner in a call.
Apple Music also gets a refreshed black-and-white app icon, replacing the familiar red design. The change is primarily cosmetic, but it is one of the first things users may notice after updating.
iPhone Duo gains Apple Pencil support
For buyers of Apple’s new foldable iPhone Duo, iOS 27.2 adds support for the Apple Pencil (USB-C). This is especially interesting on the 7.6-inch inner display, where handwritten annotations, sketches and notes make more sense than they do on a conventional smartphone. The Apple Pencil Pro is not listed as compatible, so buyers should check that they are purchasing the correct accessory.
Apple is also adding an Edge Light feature for video calls on the iPhone Duo, intended to help brighten the user’s face in less-than-ideal lighting. Both are device-specific improvements rather than features that every supported iPhone will receive.
Shortcuts gets useful automation changes
The Shortcuts app gains an automation triggered when an iPhone Duo is opened or closed, allowing creators to build actions around the foldable’s changing form factor. An updated Workout automation can now respond when a workout starts in the Fitness app, while the App automation can provide the name of an app that was closed. Shortcuts users can also rename shortcuts and change icons directly from the library.
What Malaysian iPhone owners should know
Apple has expanded Siri AI language support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, but Malay is not on the list. The company also warns that some features vary by region and iPhone model, so installing iOS 27.2 does not guarantee every advertised function will appear on every Malaysian device.
Security fixes are another reason to update
Beyond the new features, iOS 27.2 fixes a broad range of security vulnerabilities affecting system components, apps and services. Apple’s security documentation includes issues involving Bluetooth permissions, sensitive data access and malicious web content. These improvements are relevant even if your iPhone is too old to support Siri AI, making the update worthwhile for security alone.
Apple’s iOS 27 update notes confirm the features, while its security advisory documents the fixes released on 26 October 2026. Not every reported issue means there has been an attack in the wild, and the published advisories should not be read as proof that every vulnerability has been exploited.
Users can check for the update under Settings, General and Software Update. As usual, it is sensible to back up important data first and install when the phone can remain on power. The update is free; no separate Malaysian pricing applies.
