If you have gotten bored of recent phone releases, the NexPhone will get you back on your toes because this phone is capable of dual booting Windows and Android, you can already preorder one if you are in the US with a $199 (~RM798) reservation fee, and it will retail for $549 (~RM2203) when it goes on sale later this year.

The NexPhone features a 6.58-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, though protected by a rather dated Corning Gorilla Glass 3, it is powered by a Qualcomm QCM6490 (which is essentially a Snapdragon 670) paired to 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage, it has a 5000mAh battery with 18W wired charging and wireless charging support, while imaging is handled by a 64MP wide and 13MP ultrawide on the rear, a 10MP camera is in charge of selfies, the phone is interestingly IP68 and IP69K rated which is pretty respectable when it comes to durability.

While the specs aren’t groundbreaking as compared to modern phones, what makes it really exciting is its bootloader that’s capable of multi-booting into either Debian Linux, Android 16 or Windows on ARM, the company has even built a Windows Phone launcher when you boot into Windows 11, making it a perfectly functioning modern smartphone that runs the OS.

NexPhone says that the QCM6490 chip is backed by Qualcomm until 2036 for Android upgrades, which is rather comforting but it hasn’t exactly commited to a software update policy, hence you should just take that with a grain of salt if you can even get Android software upgrades for a year or two.

The nearest country to us that will be able to reserve the NexPhone is Singapore, while you can definitely have it shipped to an address there if you have one, it is expected to be available in Malaysia with a local reseller and you can simply pay $1 to join the waitlist, if you ship it to Singapore, expect to receive it in Q3 2026.

You can check it out at Nexphone’s website.
