Samsung’s efforts to curb its Galaxy Note 7 woes have been dealt with yet another blow. But this time, not involving the Galaxy Note 7. In a CCTV footage of a restaurant uploaded by The Sun UK, a Galaxy S7 explodes after it was said to be overheating in a user’s hand.

In all fairness, cases like this do happen though they are reported to be very rare for the Galaxy S7 series. Unless incidents like this particular one occur over numerous units of the same model smartphone like the Galaxy Note 7, chances are that this shouldn’t be much of a worrying issue. Nevertheless, you’re probably curious as to what went down at the restaurant.

Based on the video uploaded by The Sun, Sarah, the Galaxy S7 user is seen with the device in her hand, before it apparently overheated. The rest was history when she dropped the phone onto the table, and within seconds, the S7 appears to be fuming with white smoke coming out of it. Sarah claimed that the phone expanded in her hand as it overheated, before it turned to “barbecue”. She went on to stress that the device wasn’t charging during the incident.

According to Samsung, the incident happened to be the first they’ve ever heard of, and a Samsung representative has stated that the issue is currently under investigation and they are in contact with Sarah regarding the incident. Samsung has also claimed that there are no known safety issues regarding the Galaxy S7 series. As expected, the Galaxy S7 was rendered useless after the incident, resulting in a total loss of data according to Sarah.

While reporting incidents like this might be nitpicking Samsung at the moment, let’s hope that the Galaxy S7 won’t be another Note 7. Let us know your thoughts at the comments section below!
