Xiaomi has unveiled their newest gaming laptop, the Redmi G; with the brand’s recent introduction of its wider ecosystem of products in Malaysia – including gaming-centric items like the curved gaming monitor, it’s cause of optimism when we hear news like this.
The Redmi G is a midranger and comes packed with an NVIDIA GTX 1650 or GTX 1650Ti GPU, along with either an Intel Core i5-10200H, a Core i5-10300H CPU, or a Core i7-10750H CPU. These specs should let you run most modern AAA games at medium-high 1080p settings with a steady 60FPS output.

This is important in order to utilize the laptop’s massive 16.1-inch 144Hz display. On top of that, the panel offers 100% sRGB coverage which means better colour accuracy should you also do creative work on your Redmi G. Do note however, the base Core i5-10200H + GTX 1650 model only comes with a 60Hz display panel.
When it comes to memory configurations, there’s 16GB of DDR4 2,933MHz RAM and 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD for storage as standard. There’s a 55Wh battery that should provide you with 5.5 hours of light browsing.

The laptop’s keyboard looks to be backlit in white only while there are no elements of RGB that can be seen anywhere on the laptop – so, this makes the Redmi G a stealthy all-rounder that you should fit in a school or business setting as well.
The pricing for the Redmi G is as below:
- Core i5-10200H/GTX 1650 – CNY 4,999 (RM3,009)
- Core i5-10300H/GTX 1650 Ti – CNY 5,799 (RM3,491)
- Core i7-10750H/GTX 1650 Ti – CNY 6,599 (RM3,972)
Pre-orders of the device have started in China and will launch on August 17, but there’s no word if it’ll arrive in Malaysia yet, but like we mentioned earlier, there’s always a chance it could if Xiaomi continues to see us as a viable market for its gaming products.
