The Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 series is now complete with the launch of the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro. The Redmi Note 9S sits just between the two new smartphones.

Starting with the regular Redmi Note 9, you get a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and a punch hole camera. Over on the back we find fingerprint sensor – something we haven’t seen mounted on the back of a phone in quite a while.

For imaging, the phone shares the same 48MP setup as the Redmi Note 9S – on top of the 48MP sensor, you also get a an 8MP ultrawide shooter, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, you get a simple 13MP shooter that’s also capable of face unlock.

Under the hood, you get a MediaTek Helio G85 chipset alongside 3GB or 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. The chipset packs two ARM Cortex A75 cores clocked at 2.0GHz on top of 6x ARM Cortex A55 cores.

The phone is powered with a massive 5,020mAh battery with support of up to 18W of fast charging. The phone comes in three flavours – Polar White, Forest Green, and Midnight Grey. The Redmi Note 9 is available for $199 (RM855) for the 3GB+64GB variant, and $249 (RM1,070) for the 4GB+128GB model. The local prices will most likely be cheaper, so don’t worry.

Moving on to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro, it packs a larger 6.67-inch FHD+ display that’s the same as the Redmi Note 9S’. There’s is a punch hole camera placed right in the middle of the device too.

At the back is a 64MP quad camera system that consist of an 8MP ultrawide shooter, a 5MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor. There’s a new ‘kaleidoscope’ videography option that gives your videos the effect of looking through, well, a kaleidoscope. For selfies, you get a capable 16MP selfie lens that also supports that effect and also has slow motion selfies.

Under the hood, you get a Snapdragon 720G chipset 6GB RAM as standard and up to 128GB of internal storage. The phone is powered with a 5,020mAh battery as well, but with support for up to 30W of fast charging.

The phone also comes with a haptic feedback vibration system that offers different tactile touch experiences when using different apps. Both the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro come ship with Android 10 with MiUI 11 layered on top.

The Redmi Note 9 Pro is available in Glacier White, Interstellar Grey, and Tropical Green, and is priced at $269 (RM1,156) for the 6GB+64GB model, and $299 (RM1,285) for the 6GB+128GB variant. Both the Redmi Note 9 and Note 9 Pro will be available globally this mid-May; the official Malaysian pricing and deals will also be announced then.
