We may have just witnessed the launch of the Mate 30 series and also the debut of the Kirin 990 chipset, but news from industry sources are the HUAWEI’s next generation Kirin 1000 processor will be launching with the new Mate 40 series next year.

It isn’t even a month ago when the Kirin 990 chipset made its appearance with the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro, boasting faster download speeds and higher performance. Now the Kirin 1000 chipset is rumoured to come, becoming HUAWEI’s first chipset that utilises the 5nm process.

Apart from the 5nm process, the Kirin 1000 chipset will also be using A77 architecture cores and integrate a 5G modem in addition to HUAWEI’s latest Da Vinci Neural Processing Unit. That’s all the information that has been leaked so far, but many changes could be made before the chipset is launched.

According to Huawei Central, the new chipset should be available in the second half of 2020 when the Huawei Mate 40 series is launched. Since HUAWEI usually launch its Mate series in September/October, we still have to wait for another 12 months before we get to check out the new chipset.
