The Chinese smartphone brand trio of Vivo, Xiaomi and OPPO (we don’t know why Huawei isn’t included) have banded together to launch what’s called (based on a rough translation) the Cross Platform File Transfer protocol, which will work like Apple’s Airdrop.

According reports, the brands are partnering up to bring a new file sharing system that will allow users of OPPO, Xiaomi and Vivo, to send files in 20MB/s speeds – and you can also send items like images, music, documents and videos.

Users will send the files via NFC or Bluetooth and will work like Air Drop or even Xiaomi’s ShareMe. It’s definitely a welcome feature here in the country, especially considering the number of people using these three brand of smartphones The beta is expected to arrive by the end of this month.

If three big names can band together, here’s to hoping that the likes of Huawei, OnePlus and Lenovo can join in to and really give Apple a run for their money.
