Mario fans will be happy to know that Nintendo has just confirmed that they will be co-producing a Super Mario movie with Illumination Entertainment, the animation studio behind popular movies like Despicable Me, Minions and The Secret Life of Pets.
The fact that Nintendo will be behind the movie is a relief as the previous Mario movie that came out in 1993 was a major flop and fans all around demanded a better movie from Nintendo. Fast forward 15 years later, and here we are with a new movie that should be better than the 1993 attempt. Aside from the live action adaptation, this new movie will be animated.

Sadly, there is no mention of a release date, the movie might come out next year or even two years from now seeing as animations do take a longer time to produce compared to a live action movie. Aside from that, Nintendo has also announced that the lifetime hardware sales of the Nintendo Switch have surpassed the Wii U in less than a year.
