At Sony’s IFA event this year, the company has unveiled its first action camera for its RX line up, the RX0 is an ultra-compact, strong and waterproof action camera that will take stunning images with its 1.0-type stacked 15.3-megapixel Exmor RS image sensor, those who are looking forward to it will be happy to know that Sony Malaysia has finally launched the product here and will be available starting this month for the price of RM3,199.
The Sony RX0 has the largest sensor size of any action cameras in the market, the lens system is a ZEISS Tessar T* 24mm f/4 lens with a 7.7m focal length, which sports an anti-distortion shutter speed of up to 1/32000 and shoots up to 16 fps, which means you are able to capture fast moving subjects with detail, together with such a small body size and its rugged body, the RX0 is designed to take on any challenging conditions given.
Sony camera users will find the RX0 to be quite easy to operate, as it uses the standard user interface found on existing Alpha and RX cameras, the 1.5-inch 230,400 dots display is actually quite decent for viewing purposes, however you can also output clear 4K video with the MicroHDMI port for the better footage monitoring. For videographers, the RX0 will take videos up to 1080p60 with support for the XAVC S codec and slow motion videos up to 1080p250, it will also support shooting in flat S-Log colors as well.
The RX0 is waterproof for up to 10 meters and when paired with the MPK-HSR1 housing, it extends the ability to be used 100 meters, Sony has even gone further to make the camera shockproof up to 2 meters and crush proof up to 200kgf/2000N, making it the strongest action camera that we have ever seen till date. Apart form that, the RX0 also has a lot of accessories to be purchased after that, saving a lot of trouble to hunt for accessories.
To celebrate the launch of the RX0, Sony Malaysia is offering a free VCT-RBM2 Roll Mount, VCT-AMP1 Monopod and 32GB MicroSD card when you purchase the camera.
