The now feature filled Instagram app continues to further optimize and enhance its existing bells and whistles to further improve the user experience, and also to further crush Snapchat, which inspired Instagram Stories. Instagram introduced live streaming capabilities with Live Video last year, available in Instagram Stories. Live videos typically disappear once the user finishes the broadcast, but that has now changed.
Instead of live videos vanishing right after you broadcast it, Instagram now allows users to keep their live videos 24 hours after broadcasting. This means that broadcasted live videos will be available in for 24 hours like how Instagram Stories work. But the decision to make the live video available to viewers after broadcasting still lies within your hands.
When a user keeps his or her broadcasted video on Instagram Stories, a play icon will be seen on the profile picture of that user in your Instagram Stories feed at the top. When tapping into the video, you will be able to see all the likes and comments that were made when the video was broadcasting. On top of that, tapping right will fast forward 15 seconds while tapping left will rewind 15 seconds.
This new feature certainly gives users more liberty and control over their own content, which can prove useful to frequent Instagram live streamers. What do you think?
