Entry level Honor 6A announced with fingerprint sensor

Huawei has been pretty focused on its primary line of smartphones, but that doesn’t mean that its subsidiary Honor is being left out in the cold. Recently, the sub brand launched the Honor 6X and the Honor 8 Pro (known as the Honor V9 in China). Both phones feature dual camera setups respectively. Now Honor has announced a new smartphone, leaning towards the budget side of the spectrum.

The Honor 6A is probably what Honor wants you to get if you can’t afford the Honor 6X. Design wise, it isn’t flashy by any means, but Honor managed to give it an aluminium build. The display is of 5-inches in 720p resolution, which isn’t too shabby considering the screen size. You’ll find more entry level elements when you look under the hood, with the Honor 6A sporting a Snapdragon 430 processor. The phone comes with 2GB or 3GB RAM options and and 32GB or 64GB of expandable storage.

You might want to lower your expectations in the camera department as the Honor 6A does not have a dual camera setup like many of Huawei and Honor handsets these days. The phone features a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing shooter which are pretty standard for a mid ranger. It also packs a 3,020mAh battery, which sounds like more than enough given its specs. The Honor 6A has a rear fingerprint sensor, a welcome feature for a phone of its stature.

The Honor 6A will be available for sale starting 1st June. It will only be sold in China for the time being as we expect it to be available in other regions as well. The 2GB RAM variant will go for 799 CNY (RM497.78) while the 3GB RAM variant will cost 999 CNY (RM622.38). These are relatively attractive price points for an entry level phone. Thoughts?
