The Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro are finally here in Malaysia – and as expected, they too have bumped up their pricing this year. The Xiaomi Mi 10 is priced at RM2,799 for the 8GB+128GB variant, RM2,999 for the 8GB+256GB model; the Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro is priced at RM3,899 for the single 8GB+256GB option.

It’s a steep price hike from its predecessor, the Mi 10 which had a base price of RM1,699. This steep increase in pricing for flagships this year is no uncommon as every smartphone brand has followed suit. Despite that, the Xiaomi Mi 10 is still one of the more affordable premium smartphones so far, so perhaps that’s the silver lining we were after.

Both Xiaomi Mi 10 models come with a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, pushing a 90Hz refresh rate and 180Hz touch sampling rate. The displays support HDR10+ and DCI-P3 for better colours. The display is curved on the sides and is made of Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

For imaging, both phones come with a 108MP main shooter with 4-in-1 pixel binning, meaning you get 27MP shots at default. The regular Mi 10 also packs a 13MP ultrawide shooter, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro lens; the Mi 10 Pro has a 20MP ultrawide shooter, a 12MP telephoto camera, and another 8MP telephoto camera that supports 10x hybrid zoom. For selfies, both pack a 20MP front shooter housed in a punch hole camera.

Under the hood, you get a Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G support – and as mentioned above, all variants pack 8GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.0 internal storage.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 comes with a large 4,780mAh battery with 30W of wired fast charging support; the Mi 10 Pro comes with a smaller 4,500mAh battery but with faster 50W fast charging. Both phones support 30W of wireless charging, and reverse charging.

In terms of features, the Mi 10 series is equipped with LiquidCool 2.0 which helps cool the phone when under heavy load. Xiaomi has also improved the haptic feedback of the phones vibration system for improved experience. They ship with Android 10 with MIUI 11 layered on top.

The Xiaomi Mi 10 is available in Twilight Grey and Coral Green, while the Xiaomi Mi 10 Prp comes in Alpine White and Solstice Grey – both phones will be available this May 1 via Xiaomi’s official Lazada store as well as offline Mi Stores in the country.

As far as flagships go, the regular Mi 10 looks to be quite a steal for what it offers, especially in the camera department; the Mi 10 Pro however, doesn’t look as appealing as its competitor, the OPPO Find X2 – the latter comes with a 1440p 120Hz display and just about the same hardware, while costing just RM100 more. But we’ll have to wait until we get our hands on the devices to really know what the phones are about.
