Its great to see Microsoft and Apple play nice with one another – earlier this year, the former introduced the Microsoft Office 365 program for the macOS, bring more cross-platform support for users.

To keep in this vein, Microsoft’s popular antivirus software Windows Defender will also be making its move onto Mac devices. The program will instead be called Microsoft Defender, and not Windows Defender for obvious reasons; it’ll bring the program’s Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) platform.

The introduction of the app will also bring along with it the Threat & Vulnerability management built-in feature which discovers and fixes endpoint vulnerabilities in the system.

Navigation of the macOS app will be similar to the original Windows version – quick scan and full scan options, detection history, threat lists and more. As of right now, devices running macOS Mojave, High Sierra and Sierra will have access to Microsoft Defender.

Not that macOS’ really need antivirus software, but the occasional ransomware as well as other malware does appear, so its good to keep your system protected with a reliable antimalware program.
